Every question is answered Yes, No or N/A. Each No is flagged and asks for a photo and a comment, so the finding arrives with its evidence.

Facilities

  1. 1Hot and cold or warm water runs
  2. 2The tap is hands-free or can be turned off without touching it
  3. 3The basin is clean and the drain works

Supplies

  1. 4Soap is available
  2. 5Paper towels or a dryer are available and work
  3. 6A bin is available and not overflowing
  4. 7Sanitiser is available where required

Signs and use

  1. 8The hand washing instructions are posted
  2. 9The station is not blocked
  3. 10Staff were seen using it correctly

When to use it

  • Every day, before first use or at the start of the shift.
  • The person responsible for the area or equipment answers each question on the spot.
  • Each record starts with: Station location.

How it is scored

The template is built with points per answer and a pass mark of 90. In this library every audit is set to pass at 80 and every inspection at 90. Each submitted inspection shows its score and pass or fail, and every No is flagged with its photo and comment.
