Waste segregation poster (bin colours)
Recycling only works when waste is sorted at the bin. This poster lists six common waste streams in a plant (general waste, paper and card, plastics, metals, hazardous waste and wood) with typical items for each, and a box on each card to write in the bin colour your site uses. Bin colours are not standard: they vary by country, local rules and waste contractor, so the poster leaves them for you to fill in.

- 2
Put it above each group of bins and in the canteen.
- 3
Check a few bins at random each month: what is in the wrong one, and why?
- 4
Pair it with the waste hierarchy poster.
Which size to print
- 24 x 36 in or A2: a main wall or team board, read from a few metres away.
- 18 x 24 in or A3: a station or notice board. The A3 file also fits 11 x 17 in paper.
