Stop, think, act safety poster
Stop, think, act is a short personal safety check before a task, or whenever something changes: stop, think about what could go wrong and whether you have what you need, then make it safe before you start. This poster puts the three steps and their questions in large type, for workbenches, permit boards and the start of a job.

The words on the poster
Stop. Think. Act.
Two minutes before the job. Every time something changes.
- Stop Before you start, and when anything changes. New task, new tool, new person, new plan. Something feels wrong or unfamiliar.
- Think What could go wrong? What could hurt me or someone else? Do I have the training, tools, PPE and permit?
- Act Make it safe, then do the job. Remove or control the hazard first. Can't make it safe? Don't start. Ask your team leader.
On the floor
How to use it
- 1
Put it where jobs start: maintenance benches, permit boards, changeover points.
- 2
Use the THINK questions as the opening of a job safety analysis or a pre-task brief.
- 3
Remind the team that a change (new tool, new person, new plan) is a reason to stop again.
- 4
Pair it with the 5 shop floor safety rules poster.
Which size to print
- 24 x 36 in or A2: a main wall or team board, read from a few metres away.
- 18 x 24 in or A3: a station or notice board. The A3 file also fits 11 x 17 in paper.
- Letter or A4: a clipboard, binder or handout, on any office printer.
Every PDF is vector, so it stays sharp at full size. Nothing runs to the edge of the page, so no bleed is needed.
