Audit score 0 to 5 poster

Many improvement programs score each method or pillar from 0 to 5 at every audit. The score only helps if everyone agrees what each level means and it is earned by evidence on the floor, not by slides. This poster gives a generic 0 to 5 ladder: not started, learning, applied in a model area, results in the model area, expanded with results, and sustained by the teams themselves. Adapt the words to your own criteria before you print.

How a score is earned

Score what is proven on the floor, not on the slides.

  • Not started No activity, or plans only.
  • Learning People trained, method known, first trials.
  • Applied in a model area In use in one area. Results not yet shown.
  • Results in the model area Measured results. Standards written and kept.
  • Expanded Rolled out to similar areas, with results there too.
  • Sustained and self-driven Teams run and improve it without a push. Others come to learn.
  • Evidence, or it didn't happen: the floor, the data, the people.

How to use it

Putting the Audit score 0 to 5 poster to work

  1. 1

Agree the words for each level with the auditors before the first audit.

  2. 2

Hang it in the room where audit results and self-assessments are reviewed.

  3. 3

For each score given, write the evidence seen next to it.

  4. 4

Pair it with the free operational excellence and lean readiness assessments.

Which size to print

  • 24 x 36 in or A2: a main wall or team board, read from a few metres away.
  • 18 x 24 in or A3: a station or notice board. The A3 file also fits 11 x 17 in paper.
  • Letter or A4: a clipboard, binder or handout, on any office printer.

Every PDF is vector, so it stays sharp at full size. Nothing runs to the edge of the page, so no bleed is needed.

A poster reminds. A routine makes it stick.
