LeanSuite vs L2L

Short answer: L2L fits plants that want production, maintenance and shop-floor execution in one system: machine-connected OEE and downtime, abnormalities dispatched to the right person in real time, a CMMS with preventive maintenance and spare parts, and a skills matrix. LeanSuite fits plants that want a lean and continuous improvement system instead: tiered meetings, audits and layered process audits, ideas and kaizen, skills and training, and video-based industrial engineering studies, at one flat price per facility with unlimited users.

What L2L is

L2L, also known as Leading2Lean, calls itself a connected manufacturing operations platform. It started in 2010 as a dispatch tool in a Utah auto plant and now covers shop-floor execution (abnormality reporting and real-time dispatch, digital checklists and work instructions), maintenance (a CMMS with work orders, preventive maintenance and spare parts), production management (scheduling and real-time OEE from PLCs, SCADA and IIoT devices), skills, and Execution AI.

What LeanSuite is

LeanSuite is lean manufacturing software for frontline operations: daily issue management, tiered meetings, audits, ideas and kaizen, skills and training in one platform, at one flat price per facility with unlimited users. Its improvement projects run any method, including DMAIC, PDCA, A3, 8D or your own, and any type of project, from a kaizen event to an engineering or CapEx project. Vision AI adds industrial engineering studies from a single process video.

When L2L is the better fit

  • Maintenance is central: you want a CMMS with work orders, time- or cycle-based preventive maintenance, spare-part inventory and machine history in the same system as production.
  • You want OEE and downtime captured automatically from PLCs, SCADA or IIoT devices, with alerts dispatched to the right technician.
  • You want production scheduling and actuals synced with an ERP such as SAP or Oracle.
  • You run regulated or defense work and need AWS GovCloud hosting or support for 21 CFR Part 11, ITAR or DFARS.

When LeanSuite is the better fit

  • You want tiered meetings on live, cascaded boards in the same system as issues, ideas and kaizen (Lean Studio).
  • You run layered process audits and other audits that you build and schedule yourself (Lean Creator, Audit Management).
  • Employee ideas and kaizen projects need a proper home (Idea Management, Kaizen & Projects), alongside skills and training.
  • You want video-based time and motion, line balancing, ergonomic and SMED studies (Vision AI).
  • You want one flat price per facility with unlimited users and a 90-day, $3,000 pilot credited to the annual plan.

Where LeanSuite is different

The specifics, each linked to the LeanSuite page that shows it.

  • Any type of project, not only kaizen

One visual hub runs a small kaizen event, a full DMAIC project, an engineering or capital-expenditure project, or a project outside manufacturing, each through the workflow built for its type.

    One hub for every project
  • Engineering and CapEx projects through stage-gates

Engineering and CapEx projects run through the same four stage-gates (Ideation, Feasibility, Execution and Closure), with a checklist for each stage and an auditable trail for every deliverable and approval.

    Stage-gates for engineering and CapEx
  • Savings that Finance has signed off

A DMAIC project can't close until Finance verifies its savings. Savings are calculated from your own labor, downtime and scrap rates, and a stage-gate can require review above a savings amount you set.

    CI portfolio and ROI
  • An approval path for each type of idea

Build custom, multi-stage approval workflows per idea type: a simple safety suggestion can go straight to the EHS manager, while a large cost-saving idea goes through several levels, including Finance.
