What is continuous improvement software?

Software that runs an improvement program in one place instead of spreadsheets and shared drives. It collects ideas and problems, runs them through a method such as PDCA, A3, DMAIC or a kaizen event with owners and due dates, and reports savings or KPI changes so the program can show its impact.

How is continuous improvement software different from kaizen software?

They overlap. Kaizen software usually centers on small frontline improvements and ideas. Continuous improvement software also covers larger DMAIC and Lean Six Sigma projects, portfolio views, savings reconciliation and, in some tools, strategy deployment with the X-matrix.

Can continuous improvement software run CapEx and non-manufacturing projects?

Some can. LeanSuite runs engineering and CapEx projects through four stage-gates (Ideation, Feasibility, Execution and Closure) with an auditable trail, and runs projects outside manufacturing in the same system, in any method including your own. KaiNexus names healthcare and finance among its industries, and KPI Fire names healthcare, finance and services. We did not find CapEx stage-gate projects named on the other vendors' pages we read.

Which continuous improvement tools publish their pricing?

Of the seven, only i-nexus publishes prices, and only for Strategy Cards (free for up to 5 users, then $28 per user a month); its Workbench is quoted. KaiNexus, KPI Fire, Minitab Engage, Rever and Tervene quote on request. LeanSuite quotes per facility with unlimited users and publishes its pilot price: 90 days for $3,000 per facility, credited to the annual plan.

What should I look for in continuous improvement software?

Check which methods it supports, how savings are tracked and who validates them, how easily people outside the CI office can submit and follow improvements, whether it links projects to strategy or daily management, and how it handles sign-in for frontline staff without company email.

Its Workbench links improvement projects to strategic priorities with the X-matrix and Hoshin Kanri, tracks KPIs on scorecards and bowling charts, and records A3 root cause analysis and countermeasures, with idea generation and portfolio management alongside. It is hosted on AWS and holds ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification; the Enterprise plan is deployed with single sign-on. Strategy Cards, its strategy-creation tool, is free for up to 5 users and $28 per user per month on Standard; Workbench pricing is quoted.
Best for: OpEx offices that run continuous improvement as part of Hoshin Kanri strategy deployment.

Continuous improvement software founded in 2009, used in healthcare and finance as well as manufacturing. Frontline staff submit ideas from their phones, leaders manage events and projects, and strategy deployment cascades goals to teams, all in one platform, with problem solving, daily management and KaiNexus Intelligence, an AI that summarizes records and coaches teams through root cause analysis. It is SOC 2 Type 2 compliant and supports SAML 2.0 single sign-on, with iOS and Android apps. Pricing is quoted, with a preconfigured Fundamentals package for smaller teams and single sites.
Best for: Improvement programs that span many kinds of teams, with strategy deployment in the same system.

3. KPI Fire
Business improvement software from Complete XRM in Salt Lake City. An Idea Funnel collects and prioritizes improvement ideas by effort and impact; projects run as DMAIC, PDCA, kaizen events or quick wins with built-in workflows; savings targets, projections and actual savings are reconciled; and X-Matrix and Hoshin Kanri planning connect projects to strategic goals. There is a mobile app. It runs on AWS with third-party SOC 2 audits of its application tier and offers single sign-on. Pricing is quoted.
Best for: CI offices that manage a portfolio of DMAIC projects and want savings reconciled against targets.

4. LeanSuite
Lean manufacturing software where every kind of improvement project sits next to the shop-floor work that feeds it. Projects run in any method (DMAIC, PDCA, A3, 8D or your company's own), with built-in A3, DMAIC and PDCA templates you can adjust and a separate workflow per project type, and they can be any type of project: a small kaizen event, a full DMAIC project, an engineering or CapEx project through four stage-gates (Ideation, Feasibility, Execution, Closure) with an auditable trail, or a project outside manufacturing. Idea forms have submitters score each idea and then calculate weighted benefit, effort and risk ratings; projects start from DMAIC, DFSS, PDCA or kaizen event roadmaps, or your own; fishbone diagrams, Five Whys, SIPOC, FMEA and project charters sit inside each project; and dashboards track status, KPIs and ROI. Output from Minitab Statistical Software can be sent straight into a project. Pricing is not published on the product page. Minitab lists ISO 27001:2022 in its trust center.

A frontline improvement platform for manufacturing ("Kaizen for Everyone"). Operators log ideas and fixes from a phone, including offline; guided Quick Action, PDCA and DMAIC workflows carry them through; a coach or finance owner validates each savings figure before it counts; and Idea Match alerts people to related ideas and best practices from elsewhere in the company. It offers an open API, webhooks and SSO, and is ISO 27001:2022 certified. Pricing is not published on its site.
