What is gemba walk software?

Gemba walk software runs walks to a standard and keeps a record of each one. Leaders walk with a set of prompts on a phone or tablet and record what they see with photos and notes. Each finding goes to an owner with a due date, so it can be followed up across shifts and sites instead of staying in a notebook.

What is the difference between a gemba walk and an audit?

An audit checks the work against a standard, and most audits give it a score. A gemba walk is a leader going to the work to watch and ask questions. Many tools run both in the same app, so check that a walk in yours can record open observations and questions as well as pass or fail answers.

How we chose these tools

On a gemba walk a leader goes to where the work is done to watch it and ask the people doing it questions, which is different from an inspection. Software gives the walk a standard and makes sure each finding, with its photos, ends up with an owner. Every product on this list meets all of these:

Gemba walks are one of its named audit types, next to LPAs, safety, maintenance, quality, 5S and custom audits, with closed-loop corrective actions, dashboards and an AI layer called EASE IQ. The mobile app works outside Wi-Fi range and starts audits from QR codes. EASE is SOC 2 compliant with SAML single sign-on and MFA. It publishes pricing per site per month with unlimited users, billed annually and based on site headcount: from $720, $890 or $1,290 depending on the plan, plus implementation fees. For plants it lists Gemba walks and floor walk-throughs next to layered process audits, 5S and 6S audits and GMP or ISO audits. They run on web, iOS or Android, online or offline, with photos, signatures, scoring, automatic reports and corrective actions that escalate until closed. It publishes per-user pricing billed annually: Starter $10 and Enterprise $30 per user per month ($12 and $35 monthly), with a 14-day free trial; single sign-on is priced on request. GoAudits states it is ISO 27001 certified.
Best for: Smaller teams that want simple digital walk checklists and reports at a low published per-user price.

3. KaiNexus
Continuous improvement software founded in 2009. Its daily management module standardizes Gemba walks, captures observations and links issues to improvement projects. Walks sit next to tiered huddles, KPI tracking and leader standard work, and an issue found on one can become a huddle topic. Ideas, projects, A3 problem solving and strategy deployment are in the same platform. It is SOC 2 Type 2 compliant, supports SAML 2.0 single sign-on and has iOS and Android apps. Pricing is quoted.
