LeanSuite - Lean Manufacturing Software

Buyer's guide

Best root cause analysis (RCA) software

Short answer: Root cause analysis software comes in three kinds. Dedicated RCA tools run a formal method and keep the evidence: EasyRCA (PROACT logic trees), Causelink (cause-and-effect charts, from $799 a year), TapRooT (its own SnapCharT and Root Cause Tree method for serious incidents) and RealityCharting (the Apollo method, cloud or on premises). Data platforms find causes in sensor data: Seeq for process historians, iFactory for plants already buying its AI vision or maintenance tools. Lean platforms put the RCA inside daily problem solving: if you want problems from the line drafted into a 5 Whys and fishbone by AI and the countermeasures tracked to closure in the same system, look at LeanSuite.

Who wrote this: LeanSuite publishes this guide, and LeanSuite is one of the seven products on it. It is listed first because it is our product; the others follow in alphabetical order, which is not a ranking. Every other product is described only from its own public pages, and each entry says where that product fits better than ours.

How we chose these tools

Root cause analysis (RCA) software helps a team find why a problem happened, record the evidence, and fix the cause so it does not come back. Each product on this list meets all of these:

  • Root cause analysis is named

The vendor's own product pages say the product does root cause analysis, as a main job or a named module. A blog post ranking itself was not enough.

  • Used in industry

Manufacturing, process or other industrial plants are a main market, named on the vendor's own pages.

  • More than a template

It stores the analysis, the evidence or the data, not only a downloadable form.

  • Still sold in 2026

A live product page with a way to buy, trial or book a demo. Where we found no dated 2026 release, our sources log says so.

  • Public information

Enough on the vendor's own pages to describe its methods and how actions are handled. Where pricing or security is not published, the table says so.

Seven root cause analysis tools: LeanSuite first, then alphabetical

  1. 1. LeanSuite

Lean manufacturing software where root cause analysis sits inside every Kaizen and emergency work order (EWO). You describe the problem and attach what you know: machine manuals or SOPs, documents linked from Document Management, or a web link. The RCA Agent reads the problem, those documents and your plant's past problems and suggests a 5 Whys, a 4M1D and a fishbone, which your team edits before use. The countermeasures you keep go into the Kaizen action plan, where each gets an owner and a due date. Every draft follows the same structure whoever raises the problem, so operators, technicians and supervisors can start an analysis without waiting for the CI expert. Projects can run as PDCA, A3, DMAIC, 8D or your own method, and AI features can be switched off for your company. One flat price per facility with unlimited users; a 90-day pilot costs $3,000 per facility.

Best for: Plants that want problems from the line analyzed the same day, with an AI draft their own people check and the fixes tracked as owned actions next to issues, audits and kaizen.

    LeanSuite AI root cause analysis

  2. 2. Causelink

Cloud root cause analysis software from Sologic, LLC of Midland, Michigan, which also sells RCA training. Teams capture the problem statement with times, locations and impacts, document each piece of evidence with files or links, build an incident timeline and a cause-and-effect diagram, and assign solutions to team members and track their progress. It also supports Five Whys, Ishikawa fishbone diagrams and FMEA. Its AI suggests causes and solutions and drafts the executive summary, running on Amazon Bedrock with Anthropic models, and admins can turn it off. Version 9, released in May 2026, improved mobile access, search and admin controls; there is no native app. Causelink is covered by Sologic's SOC 2 attestation and ISO/IEC 27001 and 27017 certifications, with SAML single sign-on. It publishes pricing: Individual $799 a year for one user, Team $6,250 a year for five users, Enterprise quoted by concurrent users.

Best for: Teams of any size that want a dedicated cause-and-effect RCA tool with AI suggestions at a published per-user price.

  3. 3. EasyRCA

Cloud RCA software from Reliability Center, Inc. of Richmond, Virginia, which has worked on root cause analysis since 1967 and created the PROACT method. Investigations are built as cause-and-effect logic trees, including PROACT, or as fishbone and 5 Whys, with more than 300 industry templates. Documents, photos and videos attach to specific nodes as evidence, a Task Manager and Corrective Action Manager track work until it is closed with weekly reminders, and a one-click report downloads as Word or PDF. Its Easy Assistant AI reads the evidence and suggests nodes and tasks, and since August 2026 it also reads files you attach to the conversation. It runs on AWS and Heroku in a browser on desktop or mobile, with SAP, Maximo and Power BI connections and Microsoft and Okta sign-in added in September 2026. It names its hosting providers' ISO 27001 and SOC reports but no certification of its own. Its pricing page lists a single plant license at $14,975 a year with unlimited users (its FAQ says single plant licensing starts at $9,995 a year), with multi-site plans quoted.

Best for: Reliability, maintenance and quality teams that want a formal PROACT logic-tree RCA program with an evidence-reading AI and unlimited users per plant.

  4. 4. iFactory

An industrial AI platform from Sunnyvale, California, covering computer vision quality inspection, predictive maintenance, OEE, energy and EHS incident reporting. Its incident reporting product lists root cause analysis and corrective action tracking from first report to closure, with effectiveness verification before an action closes and a mobile app that reports offline. A dated April 2026 page on its site describes equipment failures captured automatically from sensor thresholds, AI that analyzes sensor data, maintenance history and operator logs to suggest root causes, and 5-Why, fishbone and fault tree templates. It runs as cloud software or on premises, including air-gapped. Pricing is a custom quote, and security certifications are not published.

Best for: Plants already buying AI vision or predictive maintenance that want failure investigations started from sensor data, including on premises.

    iFactory website

  5. 5. RealityCharting

Root cause analysis software and training built on the Apollo Root Cause Analysis method. Its RC Pro software builds cause-and-effect charts with a timeline, stores evidence and reference files, evaluates solutions with ROI calculations, tracks solution and task assignments with scheduled email reports, and trends common causes across analyses. It runs in a browser with secured cloud hosting or on-premises data storage, and the Corporate License adds an API and sign-in with SAML 2.0 or Active Directory. Training comes as instructor-led courses, the self-paced RC Coach and accreditation. Pricing and security certifications are not published, and we found no dated 2026 release.

Best for: Teams trained in the Apollo method that need on-premises hosting or Active Directory sign-in for evidence-based cause charting.

  6. 6. Seeq

An industrial analytics and AI platform for process manufacturing, such as oil and gas, chemicals, pharma, mining and food. It connects directly to process historian, quality and MES data, so engineers investigate deviations in the time-series data with condition monitoring, regression, soft sensors, golden profiles and anomaly detection, and keep their findings in a shareable journal. Seeq Vantage lets teams add comments, labels and reason codes to events and drill into them for root cause analysis. Seeq Intelligence, launched in March 2026, includes Agent Q, an AI analyst that analyzes data, starts investigations and writes reports. Root cause analysis is a use case rather than a module with records and corrective actions. It runs as SaaS, with on-premises Linux still supported, and announced ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and ISO 27018 certification in January 2026; its trust center also shows SOC 2. Pricing is not published.

Best for: Process engineers who need to find causes in historian and sensor data at scale, rather than manage RCA records and actions.

    Seeq website

  7. 7. TapRooT

Incident investigation and root cause analysis software from System Improvements Inc., built around the TapRooT method and its training courses. Investigators map the incident in a SnapCharT diagram, find root causes with the Root Cause Tree dictionary, and use Safeguard Analysis, Change Analysis, a human-action profile and Equifactor equipment troubleshooting, with a Corrective Action Helper guide to write the fixes. The TapRooT VI software keeps incidents, audits, investigations, root causes and corrective actions in one cloud database, stores images, documents and procedures, spots trends, and exports reports to PDF or PowerPoint. It runs on Windows, Mac, iOS and Android, with an API and connections to Cority, Intelex, Enablon and other EHS systems. An optional AI advisor was offered to beta testers in April 2026. Pricing and security certifications are not published.

Best for: Organizations that want one rigorous, training-backed investigation method for serious safety and quality incidents.
