LeanSuite vs mlean

Short answer: mlean fits multi-plant manufacturers, mainly in automotive and food and beverage, that want a modular lean routine system with shop floor boards, audits, a skill matrix, TPM and an AI assistant that runs alongside their MES. LeanSuite covers much of the same ground (audits, skills, ideas, problem solving, tiered boards, AI) and fits teams that want any improvement method and any project type in one place, including engineering and CapEx projects, with a published 90-day pilot. mlean quotes every deal and says it has no standard package or free trial.

What mlean is

mlean is the mlean Production System (mPS) from Mobile Lean S.L. in Spain, started in 2014. It is a modular shop floor operating system for continuous improvement. Modules cover 5S, visual standards, a skill matrix, standard work audits, routines, Gemba walks, shop floor management (SFM) boards, master audits, first-part checks, production alerts, TPM, improvement ideas, problem solving and HSE risks, with an AI assistant called Neila. Its site claims 500 or more factories in more than 15 countries.

What LeanSuite is

LeanSuite is lean manufacturing software for frontline operations: daily issue management, tiered meetings, audits, ideas and kaizen, skills and training in one platform, at one flat price per facility with unlimited users. Its improvement projects run any method, including DMAIC, PDCA, A3, 8D or your own, and any type of project, from a kaizen event to an engineering or CapEx project. Vision AI adds industrial engineering studies from a single process video.

When mlean is the better fit

  • You run several plants, mainly in automotive or food and beverage, and want one routine system for 5S, audits, Gemba walks and shop floor boards across them.
  • You want a skill matrix tied to workstations, with certifications that expire and levels fed by audits.
  • You already have an MES for OEE and want a lean layer that runs next to it.
  • You want an AI assistant that suggests action plans and searches past ideas, hosted on EU servers, or you need an on-premise option (extra fee).

When LeanSuite is the better fit

  • Your improvement projects need any method, including your own, and engineering or CapEx projects through stage-gates (Kaizen & Projects).
  • You want idea approvals you configure per idea type, with Lean AI sorting submissions (Idea Management), and a free ideas plan for teams of 25 and under.
  • You want a published 90-day pilot at $3,000 per facility before committing, rather than a quote-first process.
  • You want skills with job profiles, per-person SOP sign-off and levels that move up on their own (Competency Management, Job Cover Matrix).
  • You want video-based time and motion, line balancing and SOP drafting from one process video (Vision AI, priced separately).

Where LeanSuite is different

The specifics, each linked to the LeanSuite page that shows it.

  • Any method, including your own

Run DMAIC, PDCA, A3, 8D or your company's own method in the same system. The built-in A3, DMAIC and PDCA templates can be adjusted to fit your process, and each project type gets its own workflow.

    Continuous improvement software
  • Engineering and CapEx projects through stage-gates

Engineering and CapEx projects run through the same four stage-gates (Ideation, Feasibility, Execution and Closure), with a checklist for each stage and an auditable trail for every deliverable and approval.

    Stage-gates for engineering and CapEx
  • An approval path for each type of idea

Build custom, multi-stage approval workflows per idea type: a simple safety suggestion can go straight to the EHS manager, while a large cost-saving idea goes through several levels, including Finance.

    Idea Management
  • Improvement next to the daily work

Issues, audits, tiered meetings, skills and training sit in the same platform. A failed audit question can become a new kaizen, and when you launch a kaizen or engineering project you see who has the skills it needs.

    How the modules connect
  • A 90-day pilot at a published price

$3,000 per facility for 90 days, with the first module live in under a week. Pricing is per facility with unlimited users.

What the 45-minute demo shows

Comparing with mlean, the demo runs audits, skills and tier boards, then the improvement work behind them, from a kaizen to a CapEx project.

Bring one process you want to fix, and how you run it today. We show the same job in LeanSuite and answer your questions.

In the demo

  1. An audit built in Lean Creator or drafted by Lean AI from a PDF, scheduled in Daily Standard Work, and a failed answer turned into an action with an owner.
  2. A job profile with its required skills, a trainer signing off an on-the-job check, and the skill level and Job Cover Matrix updating on their own.
  3. A kaizen event, an A3 and an engineering or CapEx project in the same system, each through its own workflow, run as DMAIC, PDCA, 8D or your own method.

Want to run LeanSuite on your own lines instead? The 90-day pilot is $3,000 per facility, set up by our team, with the first module live in under a week.

FAQ

LeanSuite vs mlean: common questions

  1. For many plants, yes. They are close module for module: both cover audits, a skill matrix, ideas, problem solving, shop floor boards and AI. mlean adds TPM and first-part checks as modules and says it runs alongside your MES. LeanSuite adds engineering and CapEx projects through stage-gates, configurable idea approvals, SOP sign-off per person, and video-based studies with Vision AI. Neither replaces your MES.

  2. mlean lists 8D, A3, short loop, JDI and other methods for problem solving. LeanSuite runs any method, including DMAIC, PDCA, A3, 8D or your own, and any type of project, including engineering and CapEx projects through stage-gates. Stage-gate projects are not described on the mlean pages we read.

  3. mlean says it has no standard pricing package and no free trial; each price depends on the modules you pick and on cloud or on-premise deployment, and you receive a tailored proposal. LeanSuite is one flat price per facility with unlimited users, with a quote on request, and offers a 90-day pilot for $3,000 per facility. Teams of 25 and under can use the Suggestions module free, and a small business plan is $499 per month for up to 25 employees.

  4. mlean says its native app is for iOS (it names iPads) and works offline; Android users use the web version of mPS on any mobile device. LeanSuite publishes iOS and Android apps.

  5. mlean states ISO 27001 and says core infrastructure and AI inference run on EU servers; single sign-on is not stated on the pages we read. LeanSuite has a SOC 2 Type 1 report, is hosted on secure cloud infrastructure with a 99.5% monthly uptime commitment, and supports SAML 2.0 or OAuth single sign-on with Microsoft Entra ID and Okta. Frontline staff can sign in with an employee ID, no company email needed.
