Viva Goals alternatives
Microsoft retired Viva Goals on 31 December 2025, stopped new features on 5 December 2024 and said it would not replace it. Teams that exported their OKRs to Excel or PowerPoint can move them to Lattice, Betterworks, Leapsome or WorkBoard, or, in a manufacturing company, to LeanSuite, where each goal is measured by a plant KPI.
In more detail: Viva Goals was Microsoft's OKR product inside the Viva suite. Microsoft's retirement notice says no new features were added after 5 December 2024, the product was retired on 31 December 2025, it will not be replaced or folded into another Microsoft product, and data could be exported through the Graph API, Excel and PowerPoint. Teams moving off it have two kinds of home. The OKR and people platforms (Lattice, Betterworks, Leapsome) cascade goals from company to individual, run check-ins and feed the results into reviews and 1:1s, and WorkBoard adds enterprise business reviews and AI agents. For a manufacturer there is a third option: LeanSuite holds the year's goals at company and facility level, each measured by a KPI the tier board already shows, cascades them to plants and teams with a reply from each, judges each goal Met or Missed every month, and links the goal to the kaizen projects and issues that move it. None of the five imports a Viva Goals export directly on the pages we read; the checklist below is how to rebuild.
Who wrote this: LeanSuite publishes this page and is one of the options on it. It is listed first because it is our product; the others follow in alphabetical order, which is not a ranking. Every other product is described only from its own public pages, and each entry says who it suits best. Viva Goals itself is described only from Microsoft's retirement notice and FAQ; it is not in the comparison table because it is no longer sold.

What to look for when you move
Viva Goals held objectives, key results, check-ins and dashboards inside Teams. When you choose where the OKRs go next, four things decide whether the move sticks:
Run every tool on this page through the checks
5
tools on this page
Where the number comes from
Viva Goals key results were updated by hand or from a connected data source. Ask whether the new tool pulls the key result from a system you already run (a KPI, a BI report, a ticketing tool) or asks an owner to type a percentage each week.
Who has to see it
Office OKR tools are priced per seat and assume everyone has company email. If your goals reach a plant, ask how an operator on a shared tablet sees the goal, and what that costs.
What happens when a goal is missed
A note in a check-in, a nudge in Slack, or a project with an owner. Ask whether the tool links the goal to the work that moves it, and whether leadership can see goals that are off track across every team or site on one screen.
Reviews and meetings
If your OKRs fed performance reviews in Viva, the people platforms keep that link. If they fed a monthly business review, look at how the tool prepares it: scorecards, pre-reads or a goal-by-site grid.

Migration checklist
What to do with a Viva Goals export, whichever tool you choose. Microsoft's FAQ lists export through the Graph API, Excel and PowerPoint; if you exported before 31 December 2025 you have one of those files.
- 1
1. Get the export into one sheet
Objectives, key results, owners, start and target values, cycle and status. Drop the OKRs that were abandoned or finished; most teams move fewer than half. - 2
2. Decide the measure for each key result
For each key result, name the number that will judge it, its target and how often it is read. In LeanSuite that is the KPI the goal is measured by, with its target and frequency; in an OKR tool it is the key result's current and target value and the check-in cadence. - 3
3. Re-create the cascade
Set the company objectives first, then the ones each plant, department or team owns under them. In LeanSuite you cascade a company goal to facilities with a reply-by date and each site replies adopt as written, write own version or not applicable; in the people platforms you link each team goal to its parent. - 4
4. Link the work
Attach the projects that move each goal: kaizen, A3s and work orders in LeanSuite; Jira or Azure DevOps items in Lattice, Betterworks, Leapsome or WorkBoard. - 5
5. Set the review and switch off the old habit
Decide where the goals are reviewed (a monthly grid, a business review, a 1:1) and who prepares it. Then stop updating the Excel export, or it becomes the second system of record.
Five places to move your OKRs: LeanSuite first, then alphabetical
1. LeanSuite: best for manufacturers whose key results are plant KPIs
Lean manufacturing software whose Strategy module holds the company's goals for the year, each with an owner, a pillar such as Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost or People, a Why it matters statement and the KPI it is measured by. A company goal is cascaded to the facilities you choose with a message and a reply-by date, and a facility goal on to its teams; each level replies adopt as written, write own version (a facility goal with the company goal as its parent) or not applicable with a reason. Once a month closes the goal shows Met or Missed from its KPI, and the Goal health grid shows every company goal by facility with the misses this month, the repeat misses and the goals without a KPI. Goals have an X-matrix view per year, and a goal's page lists the projects, work orders, best practices and issues linked to it. The same KPI sits on the Lean Studio tier board and the bowling chart, and a red number opens the same action, A3 or kaizen project. LeanSuite describes two more pieces: initiatives connect to the company goal they support or land in Other, and leadership can set up meetings that link the KPIs reviewed, the owners and the speaking order. There are no performance reviews or 1:1s. One flat price per facility with unlimited users; a 90-day pilot costs $3,000 per facility. It has no import from Viva Goals or any other OKR tool; goals are re-created from your export by hand.
Best for: Manufacturers whose Viva Goals key results were plant numbers and who want the goals, the KPIs, the tier boards and the kaizen in one system priced per facility.
2. Betterworks: best for OKRs that feed performance reviews, with Workday
Performance management software with a dedicated OKR framework. Managers cascade or clone goals while keeping roll-up visibility, teams update goals weekly, a Slack nudge fires when an OKR drifts 10% off track, and goal completion is surfaced and weighted in performance reviews. AI-powered Goal Assist suggests goals from job title, past goals and team priorities. Named integrations are Workday, Salesforce, Jira and Slack. Plans are published from $8 per user per month, Enterprise quoted, plus a one-time implementation cost. Its security page lists SOC 2 reporting, ISO 27001, AWS hosting in the US and EU, and SSO. Its pages do not mention Viva Goals or a Microsoft import.
Best for: Teams whose Viva Goals OKRs fed performance reviews and who run Workday or Salesforce.
3. Lattice: best for OKRs next to reviews and 1:1s, with a Teams integration
A people platform whose Goals & OKRs product links individual OKRs to team and company goals through cascading alignment; cascading goals accept the progress of their supporting goals. Goal cycles are customizable, OKRs can be adjusted mid-cycle, company and department goals have separate permissions, and dashboards show progress by level. OKRs connect to 1:1s, performance reviews and weekly updates, and named integrations are Slack, Microsoft Teams, Jira and Salesforce. Goals & OKRs is published at $8 per seat per month, billed annually, with a $4,000 minimum annual agreement. Its trust center lists SOC 2 and AWS. Its pages do not mention Viva Goals or a Microsoft import.
Best for: Teams that used Viva Goals from Teams and want OKRs with a Teams integration next to reviews and 1:1s, at a published per-seat price.
4. Leapsome: best for goal trees and AI-drafted OKRs at a per-employee price
A people platform whose Goals & OKRs module tracks individual, team, department and company goals in interactive goal trees, each goal linked to a parent goal. Goals anchor performance reviews and 1:1 meetings, Jira issues link to objectives, Leapsome AI drafts OKRs and summaries, and dashboards show completion rates and flag outdated goals. Pricing is published per employee per month: Goals & OKRs at EUR 4 on top of the required platform (Foundation listed at EUR 7, free with a Talent Suite module until 31 December per its pricing page), with a 14-day free trial. It states ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II certification. Its pages do not mention Viva Goals or a Microsoft import.
Best for: HR-led teams that want their old OKRs rebuilt as goal trees next to reviews, with prices on the page and a trial.
5. WorkBoard: best for enterprise OKRs and business reviews run by AI agents
An AI-native strategy execution platform, marketed as WorkBoardAI. It runs OKRs across the enterprise with alignment from company to individual goals, names OKRs, OGSM, Play to Win and Hoshin Kanri as frameworks, and automates scorecards, MBR and QBR pre-reads and meeting agendas, with three agents (Portfolio Analyst, Chief of Staff, Leadership Coach). Connectors named include Jira, Azure DevOps, Salesforce, Power BI and ServiceNow; it hosts on Microsoft Azure. WorkBoard acquired Quantive, another enterprise OKR platform, in May 2025 and said Quantive customers would transition to WorkBoard; quantive.com now redirects to workboard.com, so Quantive is not a separate option. Pricing is not published. Its security page lists SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001. Its pages do not mention Viva Goals or a Microsoft import.
Best for: Enterprises that ran company-wide OKRs and business reviews in Viva Goals and want AI agents to prepare the cadence.

Where LeanSuite is different
The specifics, each linked to the LeanSuite page that shows it.
The goal's KPI is the huddle board's KPI
The KPI a goal is measured by is the same KPI the tier board and the bowling chart show, and a red number opens the same action, A3 or project. Goals, floor KPIs, tier meetings and kaizen sit in one system, so the monthly review starts from the grid, not from slides.
KPI dashboards and boardsGoals reach every facility, team and person
A company goal is cascaded to the facilities you choose with a message and a reply-by date, and a facility goal on to its teams. Each level replies: adopt as written, write its own version with the company goal as its parent, or not applicable with a reason. Leadership sees who has not replied yet.
Cascade and catchballMet or Missed, every month, plant by plant
Each goal is measured by a KPI. Once a month closes, the goal shows Met or Missed for that month, and the Goal health grid shows every company goal by facility, with the misses this month, the repeat misses and the goals that still have no KPI.
Goal healthImprovement next to the daily work
Issues, audits, tiered meetings, skills and training sit in the same platform. A failed audit question can become a new kaizen, and when you launch a kaizen or engineering project you see who has the skills it needs. Every module is connected to every other: you enter the same information once, and the photos, documents and related work stay linked to each record.

$3,000 per facility for 90 days, with the first module live in under a week. Pricing is per facility with unlimited users.
The pilot
Where LeanSuite is not the right move
The honest limits of our own product for this category, so you can rule it out quickly if one of these matters to you.
- It does not import a Viva Goals export. Goals are re-created by hand from your Excel or API export, which for most teams is an afternoon, not a project.
- It does not grade key results from 0 to 1 at quarter end, and has no performance reviews, 1:1s or development plans. A goal is judged Met or Missed every month from its KPI.
- Its pages publish no Teams, Jira, Slack or Workday integration. If your OKRs lived inside Teams, Lattice names a Teams integration.
- It is built for manufacturing plants. An office-only OKR program gets no use from the tier boards and kaizen the goals sit on.
Which one fits
Start from what your plant needs
Which of these sounds most like your plant?

Is LeanSuite right for you?
Two ways the answer goes
Is LeanSuite right for your plant?
Choose another tool if
- Betterworks: your OKRs fed performance reviews and Workday or Salesforce is your system of record.
- Lattice: your team used Viva Goals from Teams and wants OKRs with a Teams integration next to reviews and 1:1s.
- Leapsome: HR leads the program and wants goal trees, AI-drafted OKRs and a 14-day trial at a published per-employee price.
- WorkBoard: you ran company-wide OKRs and business reviews across many functions and want AI agents to prepare them.
LeanSuite is likely a fit if
- You are a manufacturer and your Viva Goals key results were plant numbers: OTIF, yield, TRIR, OEE, cost per unit.
- You want each goal judged plant by plant every month from a KPI the tier board already shows, not from a typed-in percentage.
- The work that moves a goal is kaizen, an A3 or a work order, and you want it linked to the goal.
- You want one price per facility with unlimited users, and a 90-day pilot at $3,000 per facility.
Rebuild two of your objectives on a call
Bring your export. We will set two objectives up as goals measured by your KPIs, cascade one to a plant and show what the month-end grid looks like. Or try LeanSuite in your browser with sample data.

What the 45-minute demo shows
If you are moving off Viva Goals, the demo rebuilds two of your exported objectives as goals measured by KPIs and cascades one to a plant.
Bring one process you want to fix, and how you run it today. We show the same job in LeanSuite and answer your questions.
In the demo
- A company goal measured by a KPI, cascaded to two facilities with a reply-by date, each replying adopt as written or write own version, and the Goal health grid showing Met or Missed by facility for the last closed month.
- A facility goal's page: its parent goal, the monthly target against actual, and the kaizen projects, work orders and issues linked to it.
- A Tier 1 huddle on a Lean Studio board, an item escalated to Tier 2 with its photos and history, and the answer sent back down.
Want to run LeanSuite on your own lines instead? The 90-day pilot is $3,000 per facility, set up by our team, with the first module live in under a week.
FAQ
Viva Goals Alternatives: common questions
Microsoft's retirement notice says Viva Goals was retired on 31 December 2025, that no new features were added after 5 December 2024, and that the product would be kept available, accessible and secure until retirement. Its FAQ says Microsoft will not replace Viva Goals or fold its features into another product, encourages customers to explore third-party OKR tools, says users had access to the product and their data until 31 December 2025 or licence expiry, and lists data export through the Graph API, Excel and PowerPoint. Integrations with Teams and Azure DevOps stopped working at retirement.
Microsoft's FAQ says the product shut down entirely on 31 December 2025 and could not be extended, and recommended exporting before that date. If you did not export, contact your Microsoft representative; this page cannot tell you what is recoverable. If you did, the checklist above starts from that file.
For the same kind of tool, an OKR product inside a people platform: Lattice (which names a Microsoft Teams integration), Betterworks or Leapsome, or WorkBoard for enterprise OKRs and business reviews. For a manufacturer whose key results are plant numbers, LeanSuite is a different kind of home: goals measured by KPIs the tier board already shows, judged monthly, linked to kaizen. LeanSuite is our product.
Not that their pages say. We found no Viva Goals import on the pages we read for Betterworks, Lattice, Leapsome or WorkBoard, and LeanSuite has none; its goals are re-created from your export. Several of the people platforms publish Excel or CSV import for other data, so ask each vendor directly what they can load from your file.
Lattice names Microsoft Teams among its integrations on the pages we read. Betterworks names Slack, Workday, Salesforce and Jira; Leapsome names Jira; WorkBoard names Jira, Azure DevOps, Salesforce, Power BI and ServiceNow and hosts on Azure. LeanSuite publishes no Teams integration; its KPIs come from ERP and MES systems, Excel on SharePoint or OneDrive, Google Sheets and CSV.
Take each key result and ask what number would prove it, what the target is and how often it is read. Raise OTIF from 91% to 96% becomes a goal measured by the OTIF KPI with a target of 96% and a monthly frequency. Improve safety culture has no number, so it either becomes a goal measured by TRIR or near misses reported, or it is a Why it matters statement on a goal that is. In LeanSuite a goal without a KPI cannot be judged, and Goal health counts them so none is forgotten.
WorkBoard announced on 28 May 2025 that it had acquired Quantive and that Quantive customers would transition to the WorkBoard platform over the coming months. On 1 November 2026, quantive.com redirected to workboard.com, so Quantive is not listed here as a separate option; WorkBoard is.
Lattice ($8 per seat per month, billed annually, $4,000 a year minimum), Betterworks (from $8 per user per month, Enterprise quoted) and Leapsome (Goals & OKRs at EUR 4 per employee per month on top of its platform) publish prices. WorkBoard quotes on request. LeanSuite quotes per facility with unlimited users and publishes its pilot price: 90 days for $3,000 per facility.
We read each vendor's own public pages in November 2026 and used only what they publish. Where we could not find something, the table says not published, which does not mean the product lacks it. LeanSuite is our product. If something has changed, email info@theleansuite.com and we will update the page.
