SQDCP board poster

An SQDCP board tracks a team's day under five headings: safety, quality, delivery, cost and people. Each heading has one or two measures, marked green or red against target every day, so anyone walking past can see whether the team is winning and where it needs help. This poster says what usually goes under each letter and the rule that makes the board work: every red gets a cause, an owner and a date.

The words on the poster

The SQDCP board

Five letters, one question: are we winning today?

  • Safety Injuries, near misses, hazards found and fixed.
  • Quality Defects, scrap, complaints, first-pass yield.
  • Delivery Output against plan, hour by hour. Late orders.
  • Cost Downtime minutes, overtime, scrap cost.
  • People Attendance, training done, ideas raised.
  • Green or red, every day. Each red gets a cause, an owner and a date, written on the board.

How to use it

Putting the SQDCP board poster to work

  1. 1

Put it beside the team board, or use it to explain the board to new starters.

  2. 2

Use it when setting up a board: pick one or two measures per letter, not ten.

  3. 3

Check the rule in the tier meeting: does every red have an owner and a date?

  4. 4

Pair it with the free daily huddle agenda and hour-by-hour production board.

Which size to print

  • 24 x 36 in or A2: a main wall or team board, read from a few metres away.
  • 18 x 24 in or A3: a station or notice board. The A3 file also fits 11 x 17 in paper.
  • Letter or A4: a clipboard, binder or handout, on any office printer.

Every PDF is vector, so it stays sharp at full size. Nothing runs to the edge of the page, so no bleed is needed.

A poster reminds. A routine makes it stick.
