How to run a 5S audit poster

A 5S audit checks an area against its own 5S standard on a regular schedule, so gains do not slip back. It works when it is fair and repeatable: the same checklist, scored against the photo standard rather than by feel, with photos, done with someone from the area, and ending with a few actions that have owners and dates. This poster sets out the six steps and an example four-point scale based on how many findings each item has.

Which size to print

  • 24 x 36 in or A2: a main wall or team board, read from a few metres away.
  • 18 x 24 in or A3: a station or notice board. The A3 file also fits 11 x 17 in paper.
  • Letter or A4: a clipboard, binder or handout, on any office printer.

Every PDF is vector, so it stays sharp at full size. Nothing runs to the edge of the page, so no bleed is needed.

Sources and notes

The four-point scale is an example. Many plants use 0 to 4 or 1 to 5; what matters is that every auditor scores the same way.

A poster reminds. A routine makes it stick.
