Monthly operations review poster
The monthly operations review is where leadership checks the year's goals against their KPIs once the month has closed. It works when the bowling chart is the agenda, every owner has prepared their part, and the room follows one order every time: last month's actions first, then safety, quality, delivery, cost and people. A goal that was met gets one sentence; a goal that was missed gets its cause, a countermeasure, a name and a date; a goal missed two months running gets an A3 or a project. This poster puts the preparation, the order and the rule on one page.

A list of what each owner prepares, six numbered steps in reporting order from last month's actions through safety, quality, delivery, cost and people, and a band with the rule for met and missed goals. The words on the poster
The monthly review
The year's goals, once a month, in the same order. Reds get the time.
Each owner prepares, before the meeting
- Actual against target: Met or Missed
- Each miss: the cause, from the gemba
- A countermeasure, a name, a date
- The bowling chart is the agenda. No slides.
In the room, in this order
- Last month's actions Done or not done, before any goal is opened.
- Safety Injury rate, near misses closed, audit score.
- Quality First-pass yield, complaints, cost of poor quality.
- Delivery On time in full, schedule adherence, lead time.
- Cost Cost per good unit, scrap, overtime, energy.
- People Training plan, ideas raised and closed, absence.
- Met: one sentence. Missed: cause, countermeasure, name, date. Missed two months running: open an A3 or a project, not a third month. Close with the decisions and the next date.

How to use it
Putting the Monthly operations review poster to work
- 1
Put it in the meeting room, and send the preparation list to every goal owner with the month-end close.
- 2
Run the review in the printed order, so nobody builds slides and the reds are reached before the time runs out.
- 3
Use the rule at the end: which goals are now two months red, and who opens the A3?
- 4
Pair it with the free hoshin kanri X-matrix template, whose Excel file colours each bowling chart month, and the A3 template.
Which size to print
- 24 x 36 in or A2: a main wall or team board, read from a few metres away.
- 18 x 24 in or A3: a station or notice board. The A3 file also fits 11 x 17 in paper.
- Letter or A4: a clipboard, binder or handout, on any office printer.
Every PDF is vector, so it stays sharp at full size. Nothing runs to the edge of the page, so no bleed is needed.
Sources and notes
Plants name this meeting differently: monthly business review, leadership review, hoshin review. The order of the five categories follows the usual SQDCP board; some sites add environment or morale.
